I want a name somewhere discreet, but very small, just for me, but wondered how small I could get it?
Are tattooists able to do really tiny lettering?
No. Don%26#039;t try it. I designed my own tat in memory of my mother. It came out bad.

you will have to sit down with a tattooist (several of them) and see which one meets your specifications
Reply:What, are you afraid you%26#039;ll forget your password, ha ha.
Actually, there is a limit in how small a tatto can be, but don%26#039;t know what you mean by %26quot;tiny%26quot;. For some, tiny is 1/4 inch lettering, others would have tiny as 1/2 inch letters.
I expect 1/3 inch is limit, because tattoos are ink placed inside of skin cells, and IF the impressions and ink letters are too small, the ink would all %26quot;run together%26quot;, you couldn%26#039;t read it at all.
And, I really doubt that you could find anywhere on your body that is so %26quot;discreet%26quot; than NO ONE would ever see it for the rest of your life. But, then again, if really tiny, it would be easier to remove should you change %26quot;passwords%26quot; or boy/girl friend.
Reply:They can do it but most refuse because it%26#039;ll end up turning into %26#039;mush%26#039;. I%26#039;ve just started getting interested in tattoo%26#039;s and there%26#039;s a program called Miami Ink which is about tattoo%26#039;s and stuff and people ask for small writing and they just say no we%26#039;re not doing it. How small? I%26#039;d say...2cm if you%26#039;re lucky? But I%26#039;m no expert...
Reply:I saw some lady two weeks ago with an entire enscription on her forearm. It must have been about two or three sentences but the letters were tiny an perfect. It looked like she had typed it on her arm with a typewriter thats how small and perfect it was. I asked her where she had gotten it done because I was curious to know I had never seen lettering so small and perfect, and she said somewhere in phillidelphia. But it is definetly possible. You just have to look around for a good artist and I bet you%26#039;ll find one! Good luck!
Reply:Small tatoos, as they age, tend to blend, blur, and merge and end up looking like on big ball of color.. I would not suggest getting one.
Reply:It may look good initially, but as time goes on it isn%26#039;t going to look that good. Find a discreet area - like where a bikini would cover and go a bit larger. Unless you are completely naked a tattoo in a place like that wouldn%26#039;t show.
I%26#039;ve got a tattoo on my lower stomach. It isn%26#039;t so low that I couldn%26#039;t show it to someone if I wanted to, but it is always covered up. I%26#039;ve got a one piece swim suit with high thigh opening and I thought for sure that part of it would show, but it is still covered. If you go more centered then you shouldn%26#039;t have a problem with it not showing.
Reply:Depends on how talented the tattoo artist is. My friend had a recent tattoo, and you cant read the letters, as it looks smudged and all joined into one.
Reply:doing really small letters is not recommended because after a few years the ink will blend together and it will either look like a black bar, or like black dots where the letters used to be.
Reply:Some artists will use needles specifically needed for very tiny work, others will not. They generally cannot do very fine precision work with standard liner needle configurations. Look at Anil Gupta%26#039;s miniature work for evidence of what can be accomplished on a small scale.
You simply need the right artist.

This tiny stuff cannot be exposed to the sun or it will turn to a blob, since you already said it would be in a discreet place, that should not be a problem. I have some of the tiniest little lines on a tattoo that never sees the light of day and after 20 years it is still pristine.
Reply:Don%26#039;t go smaller than 8pt font. If you do it will blur. Even at 8 it will blur. Go for 12 point font, that should be good.
Reply:As said before, search around the tattooists, ask for examples of this particular type of work.
A friend of mine just had a tat done on her ring finger, size of a thick wedding band, saying.. NEVER AGAIN.. with wave type scroll work above+below it.
Looks good, and you would never know unless you really looked closley at it
Good Luck
