Im planning on getting a tattoo...?

next year when i go to france im getting a tattoo. Its going to be of a koi fish my friend drew next to a cherry blossom. im getting it in the area under your belly button thats near the hip bone. I was wonder, i have a high tolerence for pain but on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad did it hurt for you or do you think it hurts.

oh yeah and its my first tattoo
Im planning on getting a tattoo...?
Enjoy the pain. Is this insane?
Im planning on getting a tattoo...?
My cousin has a heart tatoo in that exact spot, she sed it dosnt hurt that bad ;) Good luck :)
Reply:I got my first tattoo last year, a big piece on my rib cage (supposedly a harsh spot). Getting it done wasn%26#039;t bad at all. There were like 3 times he got near a bone and it hurt a bit more, but it was completely bearable. It was sore for about a week afterwards.

It has to do with your pain tolerance. I%26#039;d say getting it done was a 4. The soreness afterwards maybe a 6.
Reply:A tattoo hurts even if you have a high pain threshold. But, it%26#039;s not really that bad - when I got mine it hurt more for the first 10 mins and then it was just more of a numb, buzzing feeling (still hurting though, but it was durable enough for me to be having multiple conversations with the people around me :P).

However, I had my tattoo done on the back of the hip, where there is more fat. The closer it is done to the bone, the more it will hurt, also the closer to the spine/nervous system, the more it will hurt.

For me, on a scale of 1-10 it was a 6/7. 10 being something like being hit by a hard ball in the face at fast speed lol.

A tip to help the pain though, is to completely relax your body when you get it done. When they first told me to do it I thought they were messing around but it actually worked a dream. Also, if you don%26#039;t think about it, it won%26#039;t hurt as much because your mind is concentrating on other things. So, if possible you could talk to the people around you, or listen to the music that is playing, or if they have a TV in the room just watch that :)
Reply:I regret to inform you that for a woman, that area is by far the WORST to get a tattoo. Why, you wonder? You may be childless now, but chances are at some point in your life you will have a child. Your poor little koi fish next to the cherry blossom will be stretched beyond capacity and will never again look the same. In addition, that is where the %26quot;stretch marks%26quot; appear. If you%26#039;re thinking that I don%26#039;t %26quot;really%26quot; know...ask the opinion of the Mothers in the Parenting Section about getting a tattoo in that area...it will only cost you a few points to avoid a huge mistake.

Also, why are you getting a tattoo in a foreign country? Do you know a tattoo artist personally there? The French don%26#039;t even like foreigners, especially Americans!

As for the pain...do you like getting shots at the doctor%26#039;s office? Tattoos are thousands of needle punctures into your skin, then there%26#039;s the swelling and necessary care afterwards to avoid infection...while you%26#039;re vacationing in a foreign country...NOT TO MENTION ***AIDS*** or a HEPATITIS that can kill you...

Think about this again. If you simply %26quot;must%26quot; get a tattoo, get a small one (in a place on your body that won%26#039;t stretch) by a Tattoo Artist who is referred to you from someone you know as a reputable and reliable professional.

EDIT: I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved friend. What a tragedy to loose someone so young! I think you should honor your friend in whatever way you desire. It will have great significance to you. My only point was in my answer to your question. The area below your armpits and above your legs will swell and your perfect design will be forever distorted. Choose another place on your body, perhaps your upper arm and when the time comes in your life to have a child, if it%26#039;s a girl, you can honor your friend by naming a child after her...

Reply:I%26#039;ve got a tattoo on my lower stomach. The only part that really hurt was the part over the hip bones - but it wasn%26#039;t a huge area - so the painful area really didn%26#039;t last that long. If you can I%26#039;d go more centered or have it placed so more of it is on your stomach and less on the hips if the design and size allow for it. It didn%26#039;t really hurt that much - I think it was more annoying than anything. I like the idea and the concept and I think you will be happy with your choice. Plus it is still some place that can be easily covered up and that can be important depeding on your job or status in life. Good luck!!!
Reply:ummmmmm dont get one wen u get pregnant it willl become wayyyyyyyy biigger and wen ur a grandma and ur skin is saggy ur tattooo will sagg andd im giving u a comment like miss monkey did =]
Reply:First, why France? Is there a specific artist there that you know(of) or know personally? Are you moving to France?

If you are just going for a visit and are planning to be there for less than a month, I would recommend that you get it at a shop near where you live.

If the artist is really good, they may work by appointment-only or may be booked for a while. It is important to choose an artist that you like and trust, on whose portfolio you looked at.

If you know who did your friend%26#039;s, you could go to that artist. Then your tattoo would be the same style hers was.

It is always a terrible thing to lose someone close to you, and a memorial tattoo can be a good way to remember them. think it is good that you are adding to the tattoo to make it yours.

That said, your lower abdomen, near your hip will hurt. I%26#039;m not going to lie. But it shouldn%26#039;t take more than an hour and a half, so it won%26#039;t be very bad. During, the tattoo feels like someone scraping your skin with something sharp, afterwards it feels just like a sunburn.

Take your ipod in with you. Eat something beforehand. Keep lotion on that area in the days beforehand. Follow the aftercare instructions. Remember that it takes 6 months for your skin to completely regenerate, so don%26#039;t stop aftercare as soon as it looks healed. Make sure that your pant don%26#039;t rub right at the same height as the tattoo. That will be bad for it.

You probably don%26#039;t want to hear this next bit, but if you are planning to ever get pregnant, your tattoo will become distorted and will not ever go back to its original shape. You can use lotions on it, and if you gain or lose weight regularly (like humans do) then you will want to make sure you use lots of lotion so that you don%26#039;t get stretch marks.

Drink lots of water, too. Good luck. :)
Reply:is it pernament?

If it is then I dont aprove , because they stay there forever , why do you want a mark on your body?

It%26#039;s really NOT cool - even if your friends have one , doesent mean you have to copy them. It goes into your veins , and its bad for your blood. fake tatooes are ok though
Reply:What%26#039;s wrong with you are you willing to pay to have someone stab a sharp metal needle into your arm. You could get aids, tetanus or even HIV. Just for for a fashion thing. Don%26#039;t bother
