My first tattoo?

I%26#039;m getting a tattoo while on holiday next month (in England) but I have no idea what I want. It will be my first one so I want something that I will be happy with and will want me to get more tattoos in the future.

I DON%26#039;T want a coloured tattoo... not just yet, anyway. I want something really small and just black and white.

But I don%26#039;t have any idea of what pattern/art I want. I just want a really small black and white tattoo.

I don%26#039;t know where I want it placed either! Originally I wanted one on my back/shoulder but I am quite thin and very bony, so I know it would hurt. I now want one on the side of my hip where I have a bit more fat!

Could someone please advise me, or even help me, to find a nice tattoo for me! Or give me any advice on what I should be looking for for my first tattoo!

Thanks!
My first tattoo?
I think you shoudnt get it unless you%26#039;re really sure of what you want. Remember you are stuck with it for life.

Get something that is meaningful to you. Don%26#039;t ask other people.

Think of something that has had a huge impact on your life and get a tattoo that represents this.

Get something that is individual and not something that anyone could have.

Hope this helps =)
My first tattoo?

Reply:A great resource for tattoo designs is discussed below.
Reply:That%26#039;s what I thought when i got my first tattoo also, because you don%26#039;t want to be getting something extravagant for a first try lol. I researched for a while about what I really wanted (in the end I chose cherry blossoms - being beautiful and having a great meaning behind them) but it was way too big to be getting as a first tattoo since I was only 80% sure I wanted it, and I knew I had to be 100%. Instead, I opted for the small black tattoo (as you have) and I got it on the back of my hip because it can be easily hidden there, but can still be shown off when wanted to.

Myself, I just went into the parlour, searched through what they had and luckily I found one I loved, which was of a phoenix. But you can%26#039;t always guarantee that the parlour you go into will have anything to your taste, so before you go do a little research on what you want. Then when you go in and you don%26#039;t see anything, you can make a suggestion (and it would be helpful if you bring in a copy of the picture or a picture similar to what you want), they make a sketch of it themselves and then you can OK it, to your liking.

Some things you could have done are

chinese/japanese symbols

celtic symbols

egyption symbols

tribal

zodiac
Reply:Hips can be quite painful as well. I%26#039;d go for some place more fleshy... like your stomach, thigh or upper arm. The big question is... what do you like? Pick something you love - like a horse, a bird, a fish, a dragon, whatever and then look at designs in that range. I think black and white is cool. My first tattoo is black and white. My second will also be B/W with a few splashes of color. Good luck finding a design that works for you!!! :-)
Reply:Well, a tattoo is going to hurt wherever you decide to get it. Anybody who%26#039;ve I asked has said there is some type of pain. You should check out different tattoo places%26#039; portfolios and websites. As for a really small tattoo, think twice because tattoos that%26#039;re TOO small may smudge n just come out like an ink blot. I%26#039;m in the same position as you are ( I want to get my first tattoo too) and www.tattoojohnny.com has loads of tattoo ideas, and on there you can search for black and white tattoos only if you%26#039;d like. As for the idea, think of your favorite anything or something that has made an impact on your life that you%26#039;d never forget. For example, my tattoo idea revolves around my life before i turned 18 and found myself and how the future will be brighter. Also, my friend got a tattoo of a needle and thread that had %26quot;Life%26quot; on it, meaning that she is on control of stiching her own life. Just make your first tattoo is for YOU and you only (no names of other people!), and when you%26#039;re 80 you can still smile about it.
Reply:If you get a tattoo while on vacation you will have a hard time going back to that same artist for touch-ups or to ask questions while your tattoo is healing. I would recommend doing it someplace closer to home, with an artist who you can go see whenever you want.
Reply:u can always get your mothers name or somthing, that will never change and it will always mean somthing to you.... or u can get your name on your lower back 2...
